I always advise
patients that root canal treatment
is restoratively driven and is
only part of the overall plan they
have agreed with you. I am happy
to give a restorative opinion but
ultimately I leave the decision up
to you as to whether or not you
are happy to restore the tooth.
I usually prefer to
complete treatment over two
appointments. If it is a vital
case, it may be completed in one
session provided that the pulp
isn’t too inflamed. If the
diagnosis is different to the
tooth that was referred I will
always try to contact the
referring dentist prior to
starting any treatment to discuss
the findings.
We actively
encourage patients to return for
reviews although patients are
often reluctant when they have no
symptoms. We would encourage you
to remind your patients to attend
the review appointment.
